Tradie Alcoholic Ginger Beer

· · · Comments

I won't deny I had low expectations when cracking open Tradie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer. New alcoholic ginger beers are notoriously hit and miss and given Tradie's short time in the industry and fairly pedestrian other offerings I wasn't holding out high hopes. Imagine my surprise when the aroma and first sip were surprisingly zingy and fresh on the ginger with a decent ginger kick to back it up.

The reason soon became clear after a quick Google search. All the Tradie products are made by Brick Lane who do a lot of contracting for other breweries and contract brands and brew a rather good ginger beer of their own. Young Henrys Ginger Beer also comes out of Brick Lane.

Thankfully they have gone down the tried and tested route of using water, alcohol and natural flavours like Brick Lane's own ginger beer. Like it's alcohol based peers, it is nice and light, easy drinking, clean, clear and refreshing. There's a little colour and sediment in the can one assumes is a result of the ginger juice (1%) added.

Sadly the branding is fairly pedestrian and in line with the rest of the range and most other contract brands, the same design with different SKUs differentiated by different colours.

Tradie Alcoholic Ginger Beer Can

Mandatory Label Information: Volume statement is not separated by at least 2mm in all directions. Odd that they used "Alc.Vol." rather than "ABV". Doesn't state "Made in or Product of Australia", for some reason says "Bottled in Australia" despite their entire range being in cans? Pregnancy warning mark is not separated by at least 3mm in all directions.

Ingredients: Carbonated Water, Alcohol, Sugar, Ginger Juice (1%), Citric Acid, Natural Flavours & Preservative (211).
