CBCo Bertie Ginger Beer
A new addition to the CBCo (formerly Colonial Brewing Co) range and apparent sister to their Bertie Apple Cider just in time for Summer. It is a little odd naming the ginger beer and apple cider the same and I quite enjoyed the suggestion by one commenter on Facebook that they should have called the ginger beer "Gertie".
Thankfully they have gone down the tried and tested route of using water, alcohol and natural flavours rather than doing a brewed version, which is most drinkers preference and make up of most of the best known, best received and longest standing Australian alcoholic ginger beers.
Like most of it's water, alcohol and natural flavour ingredient peers, it is nice and light, easy drinking, clean, clear and refreshing. There's a slightly odd taste on the back palate, not bad, likely just an issue of balance of the flavours which is the only thing that drops its rating ever so slightly below that of its similar ingredient peers.
The branding is beautifully done. The light pastel orange of the can is complemented by ginger root in white on one side of the can like the apple in white on one the Bertie Apple Cider can.
Ingredients: Carbonated Water, Neutral Spirit, Sugar, Natural Flavours, Citric Acid & Ginger Extract.
